Tomorrow is our field trip to the Sam Houston Museum. Be sure to arrive to school on time since we will be leaving school about 8:30. If your parent is driving to the Museum, they can follow the bus or click here for directions. You can also get a sneak peak of the museum through the same website. Remember to wear your orange field day shirt and athletic shoes. We will be walking a lot. Bring a lunch in a gallon ziplock bag with your name on it. Cameras, hats, sunglasses are allowed, but please do not bring phones, I pads, I pods, Kindles or any other type of electronic device. Lastly, you can travel lightly since you won't need your backpack. We're going to have a great time! See you in the morning!

Last week, we took an in depth look at the four major regions of Texas. We noted their land characteristics, cities, bodies of water, climate, natural resources, animals, landmarks, and attractions. In Social Studies this week, we will wrap up our regions unit while each student creates an origami fact catcher game. This final in-class project will be their first major social studies grade. Parents can support their students by encouraging him/her to read the grading rubric carefully and to double check instructions and C.U.P.S. carefully. Notes and the S.S. text will be open and available to use. Students will also be given a rubric to refer to throughout the week. It shows project instructions/expectations and includes the grading rubric. Students are asked to reread all work before turning it in for grading. This is a fun, but thorough project. It will surely be a great week! |
